FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS
Recently (April, 2018) in a quiet time, the Lord said to me,
“You were born for such a time as this.”

Soon after I was born again in 1980 I learned the Campus Crusade for Christ “Four Spiritual Laws” tract as part of evangelism training. The first “law” states, “God loves you and offers a wonderful plan for your life.” This resonated strongly with me because one of the most dramatic changes my new birth brought was purpose and direction for my life that I never had before.
For 37 years I’ve wanted (with varying success) to fulfill God’s plan and purposes for my life day by day, and He has been faithful to say “this is the way, walk in it”.
Daily He has revealed His “wonderful plan”, and it is a wonderful life. But this recent statement emphasized to me that my walk is important to Him; that my life will have an impact for His kingdom according to His design. He will bring it to pass.
His fresh Word has given me a new sense of context and specificity, and with it, joy and encouragement. I’ll continue to focus on abiding in Jesus, trusting that there will be fruit that will glorify Him as I walk His path, but I will also be mindful that I have a specific destiny to fulfill. I was born for such a time as this!

Enough about me – here’s the best part:

About ten days afterward the Lord showed me that yes, I am special, but not unique to the message. His Word, “You were born for such a time as this”, is for each and every one of us, His children, who are born anew by His grace.
In Jesus’ Kingdom there are no second-class children of God. Each one of us is special to Him, equally loved and with an equally unique and vital function in His Body. Jesus was enabled by the Holy Spirit for everything He said and did on earth, and likewise anything we can accomplish of value for His Kingdom – it is by the Holy Spirit doing it through us; His Grace at work. There is no credit to us other than for faith and obedience, and He gives us that as well.
We need to forsake the worldly/fleshly mind-set that one person is more important to Jesus and His Kingdom than another – that we are validated and valued by our visible “ministry”. Each of us has a destiny for which we were born to live out for His glory and Kingdom through faith and obedience.
In my case, my sense of destiny is very much in the context of the End Times drawing near, and my part in preparing myself, my family, and His Body; the Called Out Ones. For my wife, her “for such a time as this” is more in the context of each event in her every day living; e.g., as she encounters someone while running errands, she was born for such a time as that.
Please ask the Lord for yourself if this is His Word to you, that “You were born for such a time as this” and how that will affect how you live out your life in Him. I’m hoping that you will be greatly blessed and encouraged and will treasure it in your heart as I have.

Much appreciation to Ginger, my wife, for her substantive contributions and support.
