IF DISASTER COMES . . . .

February, 25 2018
Today the Lord asked me a question.  He asked, “If disaster comes, will you be _______?”
I leave the end of the question blank for now to ask:  What do you think the question would be?

Back story:
We have lived in rural Southwest Washington State for a number of years and have grown accustomed to limited access to shopping, entertainment, etc.  We live on well & septic, rely on propane for cooking, have wood heat, but still have a heavy reliance on electric service and Internet Service.

We recently were on a drive that took us through the highly developed corridor from Tacoma, WA through Seattle.  I was struck by the high density and tremendous abundance of commerce, industry, and infrastructure.  It was somewhat overwhelming to me having not experienced that for a while.  I know that much of the Eastern Seaboard and Southern and Northern California and many other areas are the same.  I understand that even middle-America farmers rely on satellite technology.  We’re not strangers to this culture.    Having lived in Washington, D.C. and Orange County, CA, I was still pretty much amazed.

The thing that hit me hard was, this could all go away in a moment.  The Lord has warned us of devastation to come.  I couldn’t shake the thought that all of that could/would be undone in a moment.

So that brings me back to the Lord’s question.
You very well might think He would ask:

“If disaster comes, will you be ready?”
or
“If disaster comes, will you be prepared?”

But His question was:
“If disaster comes, will you be at peace?”

I’ll leave that with you to consider the significance of the question, and what your response would be.

With love in the Lord Jesus Christ,
Duncan

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes, take the water of life without cost.  Rev. 22:17
